Our family rented mountain condos for our ski vacations for many years. Early on we always rented from the resort central reservations office. Then we discovered the substantial savings available by renting directly from the owners and never paid full price again. Now, as owners, our goal is to address all of the items that we have found important to us in renting ski condos over the years. First and foremost, we want to provide you with detailed information and dozens of photos so that you can see exactly what you are getting for your money - no surprises on arrival. We are priced to save you money. Our property is identical to those offered by Solitude Mountain Resort, but at much better rates. Differences are largely limited to the view (ours is great) and the location within the building (ours is very conveniently located.) Sometimes renting from absentee owners (we live in Indiana) can be problematic if any "issues" arise. This will not be a problem with us because two of our sons live nearby in the Salt Lake Valley and will assist you if you should encounter any problems. We also contract with professional housekeepers and an onsite maintenance provider to address any maintenance problems immediately. Our 2BR/2BA ski-in/ski-out condo is located in Powderhorn Lodge, in the Solitude Mountain Resort Village. Situated in Big Cottonwood Canyon, it is a scenic 13-mile drive through the Wasatch National Forest from the community of Salt Lake City, and only a 40-minute drive from Salt Lake International Airport. The lengthy ski season, remarkable Utah snow, lack of crowds, and the quaint European-style village are among the features that make Solitude a premier ski destination.
This second floor unit can comfortably sleep 8 guests. Elevator access is provided from the lobby and the underground garage. Free laundry facilities are located just outside your door. There are lovely views of the ski runs and surrounding mountains from every room.
The well-equipped kitchen has an adjacent dining area that seats six people with room for three more at the breakfast bar. The living room has a 47” HDTV with Blu-ray DVD player, iPod speakers, a stone fireplace with gas log, a queen sofa sleeper, and access to the private balcony for viewing the sunset. The master bedroom has a king bed and a 26” HDTV. The second bedroom, with its own sitting area, contains a queen bed, a queen sofa sleeper, 32” HDTV, DVD, and a kitchen-in-a-closet with a small refrigerator, microwave, and toaster. A separate entrance allows this bedroom unit to be locked off if desired. Free high-speed internet access (wired and wireless) and satellite TV with over 120 channels (45+ HD) are also provided.
Powderhorn Lodge, with its distinctive clock tower, is situated at the center of the village with easy access to the lifts, restaurants, shops, and Club Solitude. The lodge has numerous complimentary amenities, including laundry facilities, ski storage lockers, heated underground parking, and an outdoor hot tub.
As our guest you will also enjoy free access to Club Solitude, situated less than a one-minute walk from your front door. Your family can enjoy nightly movies in the cozy theater room and play foosball, Xbox, or board games in the game room. Just outside the Club are a heated pool (open all year) and two more hot tubs. The Club also offers saunas, a fitness room, a billiard room, two computers with internet access and a printer, and a wonderful great room with a large fireplace - just the place to relax after a day’s skiing or hiking.
